As part of a parish to parish “Twinning Project” The Family of the Most Holy Eucharist churches in Cincinnati, Ohio are building a school in Kakuma, Kenya. At a cost of approximately $48,000, construction has begun and donations are currently being solicited for the school’s latrine, kitchen, two classrooms and other operational expenses. Locher-Emeiyan (a remote Catholic mission of Good Shepherd Parish in Kakuma, Kenya) is a community in Northern Kenya. Since the children of this remote village do not currently attend school, we feel that this is an ideal location for our new classroom construction, beginning with preschool-age children. The nearest school is 15 kilometers from the village! Education and catechesis in the Catholic faith will be central to the development of this remote school, operated under the auspices of the Diocese of Lodwar, Kenya.
The Ed Colina Foundation is facilitating the connection between The Family of the Most Holy Eucharist and the Kenyan Diocese of Lodwar. A 501c3 public charity, the Ed Colina Foundation accepts tax free donations and provides the contact with Good Shepherd parish in Kakuma and oversees the building project with a reputable Kenyan construction company.
This endeavor is assisted by other donor groups and individuals. The Paul Hemmer Company’s “Construction for a Cause” group, initiated by Matt Curtin, has also committed to building one of the school’s classrooms.
Donations may be made through THE FAMILY OF THE MOST HOLY EUCHARIST parishes or a check made out to The Ed Colina Foundation may be mailed to Journey The Ed Colina Foundation, PO Box 199 Burlington KY 41005.
