St. Timothy Parish – Union, Kentucky

St. Tim’s Partnership with Kenya
Journey: The Ed Colina Foundation is excited to continue the relationship with St. Timothy Parish.  Over the past years, St. Tim’s Pre-School (joined by Victory Community Bank) has provided funding for a number of projects and structures built in remote areas of Kenya – East Africa.  Ed Colina has spoken to various parish groups including Vacation Bible School students and Pre-School faculty and parents.  Hand-made dresses, school supplies and other educational materials have been sent to Kenya by St. Tim’s.  The Ed Colina Foundation has built a chicken coop using donations from St. Timothy Pre-School and Victory Community Bank.

New Opportunity for St. Tim’s Parish!
Recently, the Ed Colina Foundation has partnered with the Diocese of Lodwar in Kenya to construct simple preschool classrooms/worship space in the northern part of Kenya near the border of Sudan.  Ed and Fr. Charles Kapengi have been working to construct small iron-sheet structures for preschool classes and for worship once a month.  There are 25 out-stations or missions associated with Fr. Kapengi’s parish, Good Shephard in Kakuma, Kenya.  The needs are great.  Food, clean water, a means of income are all scarce in these desolate but faith-filled communities. We have completed two classrooms thus far.  This year, proceed from St. Tim’s World’s Longest Yard Sale event on August 6th will benefit the Ed Colina Foundation.  There are still spaces available to exhibit for the day.  There are also opportunities to volunteer to help.
